Why I say old chap, when one thinks Mini, they immediately think of the city of Oxford in good old Blighty.
So what better way to celebrate the birthplace of the iconic British car than a Mini named after the city?
The classic Mini was first built there in 1959, and since 2001, BMW Group has been producing the modern Mini on the same site.
The Union Jack is prominent in the iterior.
I was lucky enough to tour the Oxford plant in 2006 when the second generation of the modern Mini had its global launch. It was fantastic to see the hatch in production, and even better to test-drive it in Spain.
So let us say hello to the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition as the brand celebrates its British roots by incorporating the iconic Union Jack into a range of design details on the latest edition of the 3-door.
New Zealand to receive eight units, all offered in the Mini Cooper S 3-Door variant in Indigo Sunset Blue paint finish.
Of course the roof has the Union Jack on it.
The edition will arrive in New Zealand in Q4 2026, with pricing and specifications to be announced closer to arrival.
The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition wears its heart on its roof, with the Union Jack sitting on the roof. This contemporary interpretation gives the vehicle a distinctive signature and recalls Minis of the past.
The central red-and-white stripe of the flag runs along the length of the car as a key design element, visually tying the exterior design together.
The bonnet also carries the red-and-white theme.
The exterior is further enhanced by 18-inch Slide Spoke 2-tone wheels, which give the Mini Cooper 3-Door a confident stance. Individually coordinated wheel hub and valve cap covers enhance the overall edition design.
The Union Jack theme continues into the interior, with unique details such as a textured printed flag on the 6 o’clock steering wheel element.
The floor mats feature a circular Union Jack on the driver’s side, while the passenger-side floor mat carries a circular chequered flag element as a nod to Mini’s racing heritage.
It has an exterior colour of Indigo Sunset Blue.
