GWM lands its shipment of Ora 5 electric SUV in NZ

The first shipment of the all-new electric GWM Ora 5 SUV has arrived in New Zealand, and is priced from $36,990.

The Ora5 is a model that GWM and its 20 dealer network have been looking forward to for some time. It has the combination of a fully electric powertrain in an SUV body style.

The Ora 5 electric SUV offers a driving range of up to 430 km to 435 km (depending on the testing cycle). This is powered by a 58.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 150 kW front-mounted electric motor. 

The Ora 5 shipment has just landed in New Zealand.

GWM ANZ Chief Operating Officer, John Kett, said it was no secret that “we’ve been keen to add a fully electrified SUV to the range for some time and the ORA 5 SUV is the perfect model to kick start GWM’s EV ambitions”. 

“The philosophy at GWM is quite simple - to give more New Zealanders access to smarter, safer and better equipped vehicles at a price they can afford, and the ORA 5 certainly meets that criteria.

The Ora 5 SUV’s class-leading technology and segment-leading pricing is a statement of GWM’s intent to Drive to Top 5 in the EV segment across the ANZ region.” 

The Ora 5 EV has a range of 430 km to 435 km.

“While our range of hybrids and PHEVs has been chosen by an increasing number of New Zealand new car  buyers, we’re confident that a new range of Ora EVs, starting with the Ora 5 SUV, will enable GWM to become  the brand of choice for an even greater number of Kiwis wherever their powertrain preference lies.” 

There are two variants of the Ora 5, SUV Lux (from $36,990) and the  Ultra from $39,990.

Deliveries of the Ora to GWM dealer showrooms across the country are expected within the coming days.
