Zeekr New Zealand has a cool idea to promote the brand, driving its fleet of vehicles at the Southern Hemisphere Providing Ground in Cardrona next month.

The Zeekr On Ice experience is open to a limited number of New Zealanders with the event also promoting the brand’s future product portfolio.

Each package includes a two-night luxury escape at Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown and a full day behind the wheel of Zeekr's latest electric vehicles at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG) which is famous of winter testing for international motoring products including cars, tyres and engines.

Drivers will have a day at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Ground.

Participants will drive a curated selection of Zeekr vehicles, including, for the first time in New Zealand, the performance-focused 7GT, highly anticipated 8X and flagship 9X, as well as the  the X and 7X.

Dane Fisher, Group General Manager at NordEast Vehicle Distributors, said: "Zeekr On Ice gives a select group of New Zealanders the opportunity to drive future Zeekr models long before they reach market, at one of the world's most demanding proving grounds. It's a unique experience that  showcases the performance, technology and capability that define the Zeekr brand."

The Zeekr line up will include vehicles yet to be on sale in NZ yet.

Drivers will spend a full day on the snow and ice with world-class instructors, including vehicle dynamics training, slalom, controlled power slides, gymkhana and hot laps. At the end of the session, they will have a helicopter transfer off the mountain to finish.

New Zealand guests can choose from two exclusive Zeekr On Ice experiences, one is19–21 August 2026 or 20–22 August 2026.

The cost is driver packages from $5500 and spectator packages from $1500. Having been to the SHPG many times over the years with car brands such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, I can thoroughly recommend the driving package, even if you aren’t a confident driver.

The bonus of driving at SHPG is that the only damage you do is colliding with a snow bank!
