Subaru New Zealand is bring a ray of sunshine to our roads with the special edition WRX 2.4T Senkō, priced at $74,990.
Taking its name from the Japanese kanji script meaning Flash of Light, the All-Wheel Drive WRX Senkō marks that moment where everything changes. The instant that acceleration hits and the split second between intention and action.
Finished in an exclusive Sunrise Yellow, the WRX Senkō is destined to be rare, with only 10 limited-edition models released in New Zealand.
Jerry Delaney, General Manager of Inchcape New Zealand, the distributor of Subaru, says the WRX 2.4T Senkō pays tribute to Subaru New Zealand’s continued commitment to offering special edition WRXs to Kiwis.
The Senkō has special sports bucket seats.
“Our recently released WRX limited editions the AKA, Tatsu and Todoroki, which were only available in very restricted numbers, have all gone on to be highly prized collectors’ models in New Zealand. They have had great resale value and are extremely sort after, even on the second-hand market.”
The WRX has long been associated with its rally roots and the Senkō takes on that heritage and adds road-sharpened features, including a rear exterior badge of the kanji script for Senkō, 19-inch matte black alloy wheels, RECARO sports bucket seats (driver and front passenger) in Ultrasuede® with leather-look accents, a large rear spoiler and a presentation key box with the Senkō’s number, e.g. 1/10.
The WRX Senkō will be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, reinforcing its emphasis on driver engagement. Its 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine delivers 202 kW of power, offering the raw exhilaration of Subaru WRX performance with the perfect fusion of power, control, and precision.
Each WRX Senkō buyer will also be gifted an STI watch valued at over $1000.
