Nissan’s first plug-in hybrid ute will arrive in New Zealand in 2027, with the all-new Navara Pro PHEV set to make Australia and New Zealand the first right-hand-drive markets to receive the electrified model.

The sixth-generation Navara has been developed with input from local customers and is Nissan New Zealand’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle.

“The all-new Navara Pro PHEV represents exactly the kind of product-led momentum that our Nissan Vision Strategy is built on. Developed with our partners in China and engineered to meet the specific requirements of our region, it shows what Nissan is capable of delivering and what our customers can expect from us as we move forward,” said Steve Milette, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

The plug-in Navara has had testing in Australia.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and eight-speed automatic transmission, producing a preliminary combined 300kW of power and 800Nm of torque, subject to homologation.

The powertrain will be paired with selectable drive modes and seven terrain settings, including mud, sand, rock and wading, while vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability will allow owners to power electrical equipment away from a conventional power supply.

Nissan says local development has included extensive testing of suspension configurations to suit Australian and New Zealand conditions. The final suspension setup, equipment and specifications for the New Zealand market will be confirmed closer to launch.
