Calling all Auckland luxury vehicle owners who need secure garaging or don’t want their neighbours to know what car they are driving, a father-and-son duo are creating a purpose-built luxury vehicle storage concept

The $13 million Garage Club has been announced for Auckland’s Newmarket area and is set to open in early 2027.

The concept was created by Simon Hull and son Harry, with the Garage Club designed for collectors, enthusiasts, and investors who know the importance of where a car is kept.

Simon (left) and son Harry Hull researched the best facilities in the world.

The building will be built behind Mini Garage in Newmarket, and will accommodate around 160 vehicles.

Simon realised there really wasn’t anywhere where he and Harry felt comfortable leaving their cars long-term.

“Nothing in the market offered the level of care or environment we believed these vehicles deserved, so we stopped searching and committed to building something better,” said Simon.

Garage Club will have a high-density stacker system in the main warehouse.

“That frustration is what sent us overseas, studying the best facilities in the world. We weren’t interested in copying anyone outright; the goal was to take the best ideas, strip away what didn’t add real value, and build something that suits how people own cars here in New Zealand.”

There will be varied membership options available for 140 vehicles housed within a high-density stacker system in the main warehouse, with a further 20 across five four-car private garages.

Spanning approximately 1,250 square metres, the building has been designed to support the secure storage and movement of low-clearance and high-value vehicles.

Garage Club will also have a club room.

The ground level will centre on an expansive warehouse space, entrances to the private garages, all supported by a dedicated detailing bay.

Harry said securing the Newmarket site was the moment the concept became real.

“The project has been shaped by a genuine passion for these vehicles and a clear understanding of what high-quality storage should feel like,” he said.

To counter Auckland’s humid climate, environmental conditions have been engineered to ensure the optimal conditions for long-term preservation. Relative humidity will be maintained between 55 and 60 percent year-round, supported by a positive pressure system designed to minimise dust exposure.

The building will incorporate reinforced concrete construction, advanced fire protection systems and comprehensive 24-hour security monitoring. A concierge-led service model will enable managed vehicle movements, trickle charging and EV charging facilities located outside the building.

Jonathan Walker Architects has designed the building, and Jack McKinney Architects has created the interiors.

Alongside world-class storage, The Garage Club offers a private members' environment including an upper-level clubroom, bar, and meeting room, complemented by a calendar of events including driving tours and private experiences.

Expressions of interest are now being invited for carparks, private garages and participation in the Founders’ rental programme.
