EV Dongfeng Box arrives in New Zealand, priced under $30,000

We may be heading into the countdown for the Christmas break, but New Zealand’s automotive industry is hard at work with a new brand and model just launched, meet the Dongfeng Box.

The new fully electric Dongfeng Box has a special $29,990+ORC introductory offer, making it one of the more affordable EVs in our market.

Sold via Armstrong’s Distribution Limited, the Dongfeng Box has a range of 317km. It also hit top marks in the light passenger segment as a genuine five-seater,  one of the largest boot sizes in its class, the longest wheelbase, plus a six-year/ 200,000km warranty and eight-year/ 200,000km traction battery warranty.

Simon Rutherford, CEO, Armstrong’s Distribution Limited, said that the Box new model “ticks the boxes when breaking barriers to EV ownership”.

“It overdelivers in terms of range, specification and performance and, when the launch offer is taken into consideration, it delivers astonishing value. 

“There is no other fully electric vehicle currently available in the Light Passenger segment that compares with what the BOX offers, especially at the special introductory launch offer of $29,990.

The Box is available at Armstrong dealerships in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and it will be joined by the Dongfeng VIGO and 007 in early 2026.
