Honda is bringing the Japanese domestic market Super-One kei car to New Zealand, with the tiny car due here in the second half of 2026.

The electric vehicle was developed from the Honda Super EV Concept and is created for urban mobility. In Japan, a kei car has strict regulations on dimensions and engine size, and the Super-One fits those demands.

Measuring under 3.6 metres long and 1.6 metres wide, the Honda Super-ONE has been engineered for tight city streets and compact parking spaces, while offering a spacious and refined interior.

Combining Honda’s signature fun-to-drive philosophy with the brand’s ongoing Honda New Zealand Managing Director, Carolyn McMahon, said the Honda Super-One will appeal strongly to Kiwis looking for a compact, sustainable, and spirited way to move through the city.

“The Honda Super-One is an exciting addition to our line-up and perfectly suited to New Zealand’s urban lifestyle,” said McMahon.

“It embodies Honda’s philosophy of creating mobility that’s not just practical but genuinely enjoyable – an agile, quiet, and confidence-inspiring EV that makes every drive around town a pleasure.”

The Honda Super-One will arrive in New Zealand last next year.

Honda Super-One development included extensive testing across Japan’s urban environments and on open roads, ensuring its ride comfort, safety systems, and charging capabilities meet Honda’s global standards.

“As we prepare for the next phase of electrification in New Zealand, the Super-One represents how Honda continues to combine intelligent design, advanced technology, and the joy of driving,” McMahon added.

The Honda Super-One was officially unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, alongside the Honda 0 Series Saloon and 0 Series SUV. It will join Honda New Zealand’s growing electrified line-up in 2026.
