Chinese brand Chery has announced the upcoming arrival of its advanced Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system to the New Zealand market.
Launching in July, the CSH system will debut in the refreshed TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 models, offering Kiwi drivers a new benchmark in hybrid performance, efficiency, and safety.
“The launch of our Super Hybrid technology in New Zealand marks a major milestone in Chery’s new energy journey,” said Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Chery Australia and New Zealand.
“Kiwi drivers can now experience the next generation of hybrid performance— where innovation meets real-world practicality.”
The Chery TIGGO 3 will be launched in NZ in July.
At the heart of the CSH system is a fifth-generation 1.5TGDI dedicated hybrid engine, delivering an industry-leading 44.5% thermal efficiency. This engine works in harmony with Chery’s Super Hybrid DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission), which achieves 98.5% transmission efficiency for a driving experience that is both powerful and incredibly smooth.
Paired with a high-capacity lithium iron phosphate blade battery (18.3 kWh), the CSH system offers an impressive pure electric range of over 90 km and a total driving range exceeding 1,200 km.
For added convenience, the battery supports DC fast charging, allowing users to recharge from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes.
The Chery TIGGO 4 is thought to be priced around $30,000.
Chery also confirmed the award-winning TIGGO 4 will arrive in New Zealand also in July. It hasn’t announced pricing of the compact SUV it is thought to be around the $30,000 based on the Australian pricing of just under $27,000.
Two variants will be offered locally – Urban and Ultimate – both powered by a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine (108kW/210Nm) and featuring a large array of equipment.
“We’re excited to bring the TIGGO 4 to New Zealand – a smart, stylish SUV that has already proven its value in Australia,” said Harris
