Volvo Cars New Zealand has found a spark in sales for the first quarter of 2026, thanks to adding more electric vehicles to its range, including its flagship EX90 premium electric vehicle.
The brand has recorded a strong start to 2026, with total Q1 sales up by 67 per cent year-on-year, and electrified models following the overall growth trajectory with 66% growth year-on-year, signalling renewed momentum as demand for electrified vehicles accelerates, said Volvo NZ.
The Volvo EX90, Volvo’s flagship fully electric seven-seat SUV, launched in March and is now on sale from only $149,990, with the XC90 Plug-in Hybrid T8 pricing repositioned to $149,990, a $12,000 reduction.
The electric EX90 SUV will be arriving in NZ later this year.
Volvo Brand Manager, Daile Stephens, said customer demand accelerated rapidly following the March electrification surge.
“With the uplift in customer demand for electrified vehicles in March, we’re well-positioned to support it. With stock arriving across both PHEV and fully electric models, we’re ensuring customers have choice, availability and confidence when selecting the right electrified SUV for their needs.
“With electrified options across most SUV segments, Volvo is well equipped to power Kiwi adventures - today and into the future, with the addition of the mid-sized fully electric EX60 later this year.”

This strategic pricing achieves parity between Volvo’s flagship fully electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs, ensuring customers no longer need to choose their powertrain based on price, but rather on what best suits their lifestyle.
With strong early-year growth and confident leadership in electrified pricing, together with the authorised retailer network, Volvo Cars New Zealand is setting the pace for the premium electrified automotive market.
