The next generation Range Rover is still on track to release in late 2021. The iconic top level model of the Land Rover range that started the luxury SUV trend back in the late 1980’s is due for its fifth incarnation.  The current shape has been in existence since 2012 and is still logging high sales.

The next generation Range Rover has been cold weather testing and is due to switch to the other extreme, the desert, in the next few weeks. It is expected that the Range Rover will be sold in both long and short wheelbase and with Land Rover designed Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) which, amongst many new advancements, will allow over the air updates.

It is expected that the fifth generation Range Rover will use petrol, diesel and hybrid engines, with a full electric model also under development for Asian markets. It will be an important car in Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) recovery post Covid-19 recovery as plants closures have affected Land Rover Defender sales.

But JLR announced today that its factories in the UK, Slovakia and Austria will reopen from May18.
