It’s another month, and another automotive brand has been launched in New Zealand, so say kia ora to Forthing and its Taikon SUV range.
Based in Liuzhou, China, Forthing brings over 70 years of automotive expertise to its latest lineup.
Todd Groves, Forthing NZ general sales manager, says, “With pricing now confirmed, the Forthing Taikon range represents one of the strongest value propositions in the medium SUV segment.
“Customers get advanced technology, long-range hybrid capability, and a … warranty package that delivers exceptional long-term value.”
The Taikon starts from $39,990 for the super hybrid to $42,990 for entry EV.
The highly speced Taikon Super Hybrid Luxury starts at $39,990, with the Exclusive variant at $44,990 plus on-road costs.
For those choosing full electric, the Taikon EV Luxury is priced from $42,990, and the Exclusive variant from $47,990 plus on-road costs.
“As we establish the brand in New Zealand, we’re also preparing to introduce additional new models over the next two years, giving customers even more choice across multiple segments,” says Groves.
The super hybrid has a pure EV range of 180km (again, dog not included).
The new Super Hybrid model delivers 180km-plus of pure electric driving range, with a combined range of over 1000 km.
The Forthing Taikon EV features a 64.4 kWh battery that provides a WLTP-certified range of over 400 km, or specifically cited as 350-400 km on a single charge. It is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) electric SUV, delivering 150 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque.
An initial dealer network has now been established, ensuring nationwide sales coverage and after-sales support in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington & Christchurch, with further nationwide expansion underway.
All Forthing Taikon models are backed by a 7yr / 200,000km factory warranty, 8yr / 200,000km battery warranty and seven-year roadside assist.
The Taikon SUV is the first of a number of vehicles from the Chinese brand Forthing.
