With sell-out crowds and roaring enthusiasm, the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire is on track to break the record for the highest number of tickets ever sold for a family entertainment motor sport event in New Zealand.
The monster truck and motorbike spectacular had two shows at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium, before heading to Wellington’s Sky Stadium, and this weekend it roars into Eden Park, Auckland for two shows.
While the family-friendly show features awe-inspiring visual stunts, it’s also a loud occasion, so to help with people who are sensitive to loud noises, special stations were installed in Dunedin.
There were two Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire events at Dunedin.
Kennards Hire Sound Sensitivity Stations dispensed earplugs to any stadium-goers on a self-service basis, so that anyone could enjoy the fun without the risk of being overwhelmed by noise levels. There were 7000 ear plugs dispensed within the first 30 minutes of the show.
Eden Park and Kennards Hire have worked together, and installed two new permanent sound sensitivity stations on the North and East Stands at Eden Park.
These are in addition to the existing two stations (a portable one, and another on the South Stand).
The event features popular Hot Wheels trucks that are supersized.
It’s estimated that 14,000 ear plugs will be distributed for the huge turnout expected this weekend. Originally, there was only one Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire planned for Saturday, October 4 in Auckland.
But that event saw the most tickets for a single show sold in the history of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live, which has toured across North America, Europe and Australia for the past seven years. This saw a second show announced for Sunday, October 5 at Eden Park.
Based on the world’s best-selling toy, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire features life-size versions of iconic Hot Wheels toys — including Bigfoot, Bone Shaker, Tiger Shark, and Mega Wrex — performing jaw-dropping stunts, fiery wheelies, and gravity-defying jumps, all under the glow of stadium lights.
There are still tickets available for the shows.
