Lexus New Zealand has signed a new three-year partnership with New Zealand Design Week, extending its support of the festival through to 2029.
The announcement follows two years of collaboration between Lexus and the festival, which returns to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland from 1 to 9 March 2027, anchored at Shed 10 at Queen's Wharf. NZ Design Week was recently rebranded from Auckland Design Week.
As part of the 2027 programme, Lexus will support two international speakers at the festival's expanded Design Conference, alongside the return of the Lexus Lunch, Lexus Luxury Homes Tour and Lexus Soirée.
NZ Design Week was recently rebranded from Auckland Design Week.
Lexus will also showcase the work of the four Lexus Design Award winners at the Design Depot at Shed 10, giving the emerging designers an opportunity to exhibit their work and connect with industry leaders.
Lexus New Zealand Vice President Andrew Davis says design has always been a big part of Lexus, making New Zealand Design Week a natural fit.
“Design goes into every part of a Lexus, right down to the smallest details. You can see that in our new ES, from the way the interior has been designed to the materials and finishes we've chosen.
Lexus has been a sponsor of the Design Week for two years.
“We've really enjoyed being involved with New Zealand Design Week over the past two years. There's some incredible design talent here in New Zealand, and it's great to be able to support an event that gives that talent a platform.”
Davis says the longer partnership will also allow Lexus to support the festival as it grows.
“Having another three years gives us the opportunity to do more with the festival. We're particularly excited to help bring designers like Stefan Diez and Lee Gibson to New Zealand next year. It's not often you get people with that level of international experience here, so it'll be great for our local design industry.”
The 2027 festival will run under the new theme Restore + Reimagine, exploring how design can draw on traditional skills and ideas while looking to the future.
The event will feature top international designers.
