Honda New Zealand is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the CR-V, which helped form the on-road family-friendly SUV segment.
Launched globally in 1995 as one of the world’s first “Comfortable Runabout Vehicles,” the CR V pioneered a new era of urban SUVs – combining the practicality of an SUV with the refinement of a passenger car.
Since then, it has become one of Honda’s most recognisable and best-selling models, with over 15 million units sold worldwide, including thousands to loyal New Zealand customers.
Carolyn McMahon, Managing Director of Honda New Zealand, said the CR-V’s 30-year milestone is not just a celebration of the model’s global success, but also a testament to the strong relationship between Honda and New Zealand drivers.
“For 30 years, the CR-V has been a trusted companion for Kiwi families – from school runs to road trips. It represents Honda’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation, and continues to evolve with the needs of our customers. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and the loyal community of CR-V owners who have made it part of their lives,” said McMahon.
To mark the 30th anniversary, some of the Honda New Zealand dealerships will host local celebrations, showcasing the CR-V’s rich heritage and evolution, alongside special activities for customers.
