Geely NZ adds AWD Starray EM-i hybrid to line-up

Geely New Zealand is adding a new all-wheel-drive electric hybrid SUV to the Starray EM-i line-up, priced from $55,990 and arriving in mid-October.

The Geely Starray EM-i AWD adds a dedicated rear electric motor to Geely’s Electric Hybrid powertrain, delivering 220kW of combined power, 412Nm of torque and a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds.

With up to 130km of pure-electric WLTP range and up to 1,065km of combined WLTP range, the Starray EM-i AWD is designed to support electric driving for everyday journeys while retaining petrol-backed flexibility for longer trips.

Geely New Zealand Brand Manager Jordan Haines says the new variant is designed around the way many New Zealanders use their vehicles.

The Starray has an electric range of 130km.

“The Starray EM-i AWD brings together electric driving for everyday journeys, petrol-backed flexibility for longer travel and all-wheel-drive confidence when conditions change,” says Haines.

“That combination is particularly relevant in New Zealand, where drivers can move between urban roads, motorways, gravel routes and regional roads within the same journey.”

The Starray EM-i AWD adds a dedicated rear electric motor producing 80kW and 150Nm. Combined with the existing Super Hybrid powertrain, it delivers 220kW of power and 412Nm of torque, with a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds.
