The Land Rover Defender has spawned a supercharged V8 version for its 90 and 110 models.

Shortly available for order in New Zealand, the 5.0 litre V8 will have 386kW output, a 240km/h top speed and be good for 4.9 seconds to 100km/h in the 90 derivative.

The new V8 version will have 22-inch wheels, xenon blue brake calipers, four exhausts and an up-spec trim level broadly based on the Defender X, meaning that it will likely top out at in excess of $200,000.

You will also be able to go one step further for the “Carpathian Edition” which gets Land Rover’s factory semi-matte finish over the original paint, plus Narvik black additions to the roof, bonnet and rear tailgate. This one looks particularly sexy in the 90 model and is my must-have!
