The first shots of the Mercedes-AMG 4x4 squared, to be based on the current G-Class, have been taken as it rockets around Nurburgring.

It is superseding the previous generation G500 4x4 squared that sold well in the Middle East, the exact new model name is not known. It’s expected to be launched next year.

The hard-core off-roader will no doubt arrive with plenty of bling. Expect to see huge sidesteps, steel bumper protectors, a roof rack that can be reached via a ladder, off-road tyres and a light bar on the roof.

The engine will no doubt mirror that of the current G63 that has the twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 putting out 430kW.
