Peugeot to go all-electric in Europe from 2030

Every new Peugeot model launched in Europe by 2030 will be full-electric only, CEO Linda Jackson says, but there will be combustion capability for international markets.

The Stellantis brand prepares for the transition away from internal combustion engines in its major markets and will be one of the first brands from motoring globally conglomerate.

"As we move on to the new [Stellantis] platforms, STLA Small, Medium, Large, by 2030 in Europe all of our models will be electric," Jackson told Automotive News Europe.

"But I still have to make sure I maintain internal-combustion offerings for my international customers."

Peugeot's move would come five years ahead of the EU's proposal to mandate only zero-emissions vehicles in 2035.

Other Stellantis brands have previously given dates when they plan to be all-electric, with DS in 2026, Alfa Romeo a year later, and Opel/Vauxhall in 2028.

In New Zealand, Peugeot’s 208, including the electric version, has been nominated for the Motoring Writers’ Guild’s Car of the Year 2021.

Peugeot NZ also has the electric 2008 SUV, plus the 308 and 3008 hybrids for sale.
