Rolls-Royce looks set to track towards getting a fully electric limousine onto the market.

Said to be called the “Silent Shadow”, based on trademark information filed by BMW, the model is rumoured to be completely new as opposed to being based on the Phantom or the Ghost.

Official plans won’t be released until the end of this year, the bespoke EV could adopt styling inspiration from the Rolls-Royce 103EX concept car, according to AutoCar UK.

No further details are known, but it would certainly appear believable, based on Rolls -Royce’s desire to skip a petrol hybrid “in-between” and go straight to fully electric.

There would also be an ability to share components between the BMW i7, based on BMW’s flagship sedan model that will ultimately compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS.

The Rolls-Royce though would use an aluminum space-frame structure as opposed to BMW’s electric car “CLAR” architecture.

The bespoke British brand will increasingly look to move beyond its V12 engines, as emission standards for new vehicles tighten around the world.
